Brief history
- On March 30, 1993, according to an agreement between JA and
Open Society Fund, Junior Achievement of Lithuania was founded.
- On July 24, 1995, Junior Achievement of Lithuania registered
as an independent non-governmental economic education (non-profit)
institution.
- In October 1998, Junior Achievement of Lithuania was newly
registered as a public institution.
- Junior Achievement of Lithuania is an associated member of
“Junior Achievement International” and since 1993 has had a
copyright to use and modify its educational materials according
to the local needs of this organization. Structurally and financially,
JAL is independent from JA International.
- JA is the oldest, biggest and fastest growing non-profit business
and economic education organization in the world.
Facts and Numbers
- In October 1993, first students started the Applied Economics
course.
- In 2002/2003, approximately 18 000 students from 240 schools,
situated in 110 Lithuanian cities and towns, studied JAL programs.
- Since 1993 JAL has published more than 20 different textbooks
and study guides of economic theory and practice.
- Each year JAL organizes more than 20 different events and
contests or students and teachers: computer simulations, Young
Investor, Economic Olympics, summer forums, and others.
